ID scanning with the Customer Portal (GuestAdvisor Web)
If you’re using Smart Solutions, guests can check in and scan their IDs using either:
- The GuestAdvisor Application
- The Customer Portal Link
These two options will be automatically sent out to guests via email based on your settings. For detailed instructions on setting up online check-in and ID scanning, refer to the Setup Guide, found here.
Setting Up Customer Portal
After successfully setting up GuestAdvisor, it's time to configure your Customer Portal. Just follow these simple steps:
Accessing the GuestAdvisor Web Setup
- Navigate to the Distribution menu.
- Select Internet Booking Engine to find the GuestAdvisor Web Setup menu.

Finding and Sharing the Customer Portal Link
- In the first step, you will find a unique link to your Customer Portal.
- To share it via email, simply copy and paste the link.
- With the use of the Smart Solutions module, this link will be automatically created and sent out to guests via email, as the Customer Portal link can be used as a web based check-in tool together with ID scanning.

Configuring the Banner Settings
- By default, the banner is the same as the one used in your Internet Booking Engine.
- If you prefer a different banner for GuestAdvisor Web:
- Disable the "Use banner from Internet Booking Engine" option.
- Upload a new image.
Banner Image Requirements
- Supported formats: .jpg, .png
- Recommended size: 1980 x 300 pixels
- Maximum file size: 2 MB
How Guests Use the Customer Portal for Online Check-in

Accessing the Customer Portal
- Guests click on their individual Customer Portal link (created and sent by an automatic email).
- They must confirm their email address to proceed.

Checking In & Reviewing Reservation Details
- Once logged in, guests can:
- Check in
- Pay their reservation fee (if the hotel uses SabeePay)
- View reservation details

Starting the Online Check-in Process
- Guests click on Check-in to begin.
- They select the guest profile they want to update.
- By tapping on the Guest Tile (Uncompleted or Add guest details), they can fill in required details.
- Guests click on Check-in to begin.

ID Scanning Process

Guests can choose to:
- Manually enter details
- Scan their ID for auto-fill
- Upload picture from the computer (or other device)

To scan an ID, they click Scan my ID and autofill data.
Here they have two options: - Scan the ID document
- Upload scanned document form their gallery

When choosing the From camera option the scanning plugin will open, and the guest must allow camera access for the first-time scan.

Reviewing & Saving ID Data
Guests can rescan as many times as needed—there is no limit. Once they are happy with the scan they can click on Save at the bottom of the page.
If they save the scanned data, it will be used to autofill their profile. Fields filled from the scan will display a small ID icon, and any incorrect data can be edited manually.

Completing Online Check-in
- Guests must repeat this process for all travelers in their booking.
- They provide any additional required details (based on hotel settings).
- To finish check-in, they accept policies & legal notices and tap Finish Check-in.
Where is the Data Stored?
- All scanned and entered information is stored in your SabeeApp account.
- You can find guest details on the reservation page by clicking on the dots under the Action button next to the guest name.
